As part of the Thirty Day Challenge, I set up a page on Tumblr. I followed the instructions of Ed Dale and Dan Raine as carefully as I could. I was about 95% satisfied that I had put together a useful site, but was continuing to upgrade and perfect the content.
Two days later, my account was suspended.
At the point it was suspended, I had reached #5 on Google for phrase match against 657 competing websites. How cool is that?!
When I found that Tumblr had taken my site down, I felt a little like someone had slugged me in the stomach. I had been passionate about reading and listening to all the training, following all the directions, and fully expected to be rewarded by winning the challenge. I had spent hours at my computer, neglecting my family, striving for my goal of successfully completing this venture.
My emotions ranged from embarrassment, to frustration, to disappointment, to anger. The problem was that I didn’t know where or at whom I should direct those feelings. Was this my fault? Was it Ed and Dan’s fault? Was Tumblr the bad guy here?
I went to the Thirty Day Challenge Forum for answers. There, I found that the same thing had happened to most 30 day challenge members. And misery loves company, right? Well this group wasn’t miserable at all. They were mostly grateful for learning a technique that works. They were all talking about solutions to the problem.
Then I found out that it even happened to the teacher. Do you recognize this link:

My theory is that Tumblr was overwhelmed from being inundated by several thousands of new websites over the past couple days. They probably weren’t geared up to handle the throng of internet marketers from the standpoint of bandwidth nor from the attention they were getting. Rather than face the challenge, they chose to turn and run.
Here’s what I learned from the ordeal:
- Always have a backup plan.
- The system works.
- Ed and Dan are geniuses.
- I will never approach internet marketing the same as I did a month ago.
- I can still complete this year’s challenge.
They can’t stop us. Let’s finish this thing.
