What is Your Strategy for Your Blog?

Recently, I read a post by Andrew Wee entitled “Tips for Profit-Oriented Bloggers“. His suggestions make a lot of sense to me and I have spent the past several days strategizing and re-positioning my blog. I’ve made several changes and have several more left to be completed.

My first change was to remove adsense from my blog. At this early juncture in my blogging it is critical for me to develop traffic. It isn’t worth the few cents I get from an adsense click to send my readers away.

Much of the past several days have been spent changing my theme and setting it up to look and navigate how I choose. I have yet to post a photo of myself, but that is coming. I believe it is important for readers to see who the blogger is to make the blog more personal.

From here on out, my work is to publish content that is useful to others so that they will choose to return on a regular basis. My plan is to provide consistent useful material every week as follows:

  • Tips and Techniques
  • Product Preview
  • Blog of the Week
  • My Week in Review

Tips and Techniques may include something I have learned that has made blogging easier. It may, also, include information from my research that was helpful for me to overcome particular blogging challenges.

The Product Preview will report my comments about any product, program, or ebook that I have found useful to someone who is blogging with the intent of earning profit.

I will post a Blog of the Week every Wednesday to highlight a blog I have discovered that has been particularly interesting or useful to me.

My Week in Review will be my diary documenting my thoughts and activites as it relates to blogging.

I encourage any comments and suggestions. Please return frequently and watch for the improvements.

Hi Don,
tks for taking the time to read my blog.

you might also like to do ’speedlink’ which is a weekly highlight to 4-5 blog posts which you’ve found useful.

some other suggestions:
use linktemple.com to isolate PR leakage from your site.

depending on how you feel, you might want to:
1) remove the wordpress development team from your blogroll.
2) remove the XFN link from your ‘meta’ menu (leaks a huge amount of pagerank).

and it’ll be good to get your namesqueeze/opt-in page up ASAP.

cheers!
